The One who will never let you down

At times in life, it may feel as if we have no one we can fully rely on.

Our friend we trusted so dearly is caught in a lie or speaking badly about us to others. Our partner is found being unfaithful or dishonest with us. Everywhere we turn we see people being let down in some fashion.

We see a wife and mother being left to raise the children alone by an unfaithful husband. We see the divorce rip the family apart. We witness friends bashing one another over a glass of wine, and parents disowning their own offspring.

It can make us feel hopeless in trusting others, with an agonizing fear in our heads telling us eventually we will be let down yet again.

As a reaction to this, I see people deciding that the only person they lay trust in is themselves. The memes are endless addressing the reality that we can’t trust one another…

The reality is that we are flawed as humans. Because of free will, we are naturally selfish beings. We are born with sinful nature. We look after ourselves first, and will lie and sin to protect ourselves. This will inevitably lead us to fail our friends, our family, our colleagues, and our loved ones at some point in life. It means that we will be let down in some capacity through our traverse in life, too. Even those with the best intentions, are still imperfect by human nature.

But there is one who is unfailing, who will never let us down. Though we may not agree with how He shows us His love at times, He will never forsake us. If we come to God, He will cast no one away.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.

Deuteronomy 31:6

And another favorite verse of mine:

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Behold, all who are incensed against you shall be put to shame and confounded; those who strive against you shall be as nothing and shall perish. You shall seek those who contend with you, but you shall not find them; those who war against you shall be as nothing at all. For I, the Lord your God, hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, “Fear not, I am the one who helps you.

Isaiah 41:10-13

May you find peace that you have someone to trust with your whole heart, with your mind, and with your life. You will never be abandoned when you put your trust and faith in the Lord.
May He bring peace to your troubled hearts and minds.
